Nepali Congress (NC) senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel has said that NC could be made the centre of people’s trust only if internal democracy was strengthened and institutionalised.

Addressing the inaugural session of the party’s 14th general convention here on Friday, Poudel said that free and fair election and competition should be prioritised in the party by infusing democratic ideals, ethics and moral strengths on the cadres.

The NC senior leader stated that a thorough review was needed on why the NC lagged behind against the communist parties adding that the NC could defeat the opponents through its own agenda in the upcoming elections.

“Justice for the needy is lost. Discipline and morality need to be well maintained in the party by ending corruption,” Poudel added.

He also laid emphasis on political reforms to chart out a development model that ensures employment opportunities to the people in the village itself.
