Kathmandu, Oct 16: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has urged everyone not to fall under the illusion that the current government made up of two major political parties in Parliament will change immediately.

Addressing a programme organized at Police Headquarters Naxal today on the occasion of 69th Police Day, he made it clear that the current government will change itself after a certain period.

“Nowadays, there is a daily rumor that government will change. It is baseless rumor but it will change after one year nine months.” Oli said.

“The government leadership would be handed over to Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba after certain time,” PM Oli said.

He further claimed that the incumbent coalition government could be easily broken down.

“There shall be no ‘compromise’ in the current constitution and democratic system” Prime Minister Oli said and made it clear that there will be no compromises made in the current constitution drafted through people’s representatives and the democratic system established on the strength of the people’s struggle.

He said that it is the duty of all Nepalis to protect this system which belongs to the sovereignty of the Nepali people.

The forefathers have made many sacrifices and hardships in building and making this country prosperous.

He further claimed that there might be compromises in many issues but not in democratic system and underlying structure of the constitution.

On another note, Prime Minister Oli clarified that the bill to amend the existing Nepal Police Act will be passed with priority in the upcoming session of the Federal Parliament.

He further mentioned that a new day will dawn in the police force after the Bill to amend the Police Act is passed by the Council of Ministers and the amended law is passed by the Parliament.

The bill has now been sent to the Public Service Commission for necessary suggestions.

Prime Minister Oli said that the government is paying attention to providing the police organization with training and state-of-the-art equipment in crime investigation.

He also congratulated all the police personnel who are deployed abroad in peacekeeping mission and said that the role played by the police in maintaining law and order in the society is extraordinary and admirable.
