BIRATNAGAR, Dec 27: The Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) in State 1 has filed a no-confidence motion against Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai.
The no-confidence motion has been signed by 37 members of the group.
The no-confidence motion was registered in the secretariat of the state assembly at 10:40 am on Sunday under the leadership of state assembly member Indra Bahadur Angbo.
Angbo and supporter Laxman Tiwari are the proponents of the no-confidence motion. The faction is planning to field Bhim Acharya as the next Chief Minister.
Chief Minister Rai removed Angbo from the Minister of Economic Affairs on Saturday evening, alleging that Angbo was actively engaged to remove him from the post of Chief Minister.
Rai, who received 26 votes in the parliamentary election, had defeated Acharya by two votes.
Earlier on Sunday, Minister for Social Development Jeevan Ghimire, Minister of State for Social Development Jasmaya Gajamer and Minister of State for Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment Vijay Biswas resigned.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had appointed Minister of State Gajamer as a central member of Oli-faction of Central Committee, but she rejected it and decided to side with Dahal-Nepal.
