No mandatory of embossed number on all vehicles: Department of Transport Management



Embossed number plates for vehicles applicable to Bagmati Province.

KATHMANDU: The Department of Transport Management has made it clear that embossed number plates will not be mandatory on all vehicles from July 17.

The Department has issued a press release on Tuesday stating that embossed number plates have been made mandatory only for new vehicles registered from 17 November 2021, vehicles transferred from February 12, 2022 and vehicles renewed from May 15, 2022.

Director General of the Department, Namaraj Ghimire, clarified that the embossed number plates have not mandatory for all vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Gandaki Province Transport Management Office has decided to implement the embossed number plates to new vehicles and vehicles transferring from other provinces.

In social media, people have been raising voice against the English language embossed number plates. They have been demanding for Nepali language embossed number system.
