Kathmandu, April 6: Members of the Non-Resident Nepali (NRN) community have urged Nepal government to introduce a free visa policy for NRN citizens and improve family-friendly infrastructure at the country’s airports, including Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).
In a complain lodged at the Hello Sarkar, a centralized portal to receive genuine complains, NRNs highlighted their continued contribution to Nepal’s economy, global image, and investment climate, stressing that a free visa provision would strengthen their connection with the homeland. The complain was lodged by an anonymous person. The person has noted that such a policy would encourage more frequent visits, promote greater engagement in national development, and serve as recognition of the diaspora’s role in Nepal’s progress.
“NRNs across the world play a vital role in promoting Nepal internationally and supporting its economic growth. A free visa policy would further deepen our emotional and financial ties with the country,” the person said.
In addition, it has been called for the establishment of dedicated baby changing rooms at Tribhuvan International Airport and other airports across Nepal. It has been pointed out that the lack of such facilities creates inconvenience for families traveling with infants and young children.
“Well-equipped, hygienic, and private baby care rooms would significantly improve the travel experience for both international and domestic passengers. The initiative is also seen as a step toward making Nepal’s airports more inclusive and family-friendly,” it said.
Surprisingly, the Hello Sarkar has sent a letter to address the complain to the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, and the ministry has forwarded the complain to the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB). The NRNs have been raising this issue even today. #nepal
