KATHMANDU, Nov 29: The much-awaited Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) concluded Saturday after party chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli presented a separate political document rejecting all the charges labelled against him by another chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’.

In the meeting held at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar on Saturday, chairman Oli presented a 38-page political proposal as a response to the allegations made by ‘Prachanda’ at the Secretariat meeting held on November 13.

Prime Minister Oli has replied Prachanda’s proposal word by word and rejected the latter’s proposal terming it to be full of lies and misinformation.

Chairman Oli has dismissed accusations that he was running the government without consulting with the party. Instead, he accused Prachanda of not cooperating while handling the party’s affairs.

Prachanda had presented a 19-page political proposal at the Secretariat meeting on November 13. In his document, Prachanda had accused the government of involving in corruption and failing to fulfill electoral promises.

He had also blamed that Prime Minister Oli had shown authoritarian character, and asked him to make sacrifices suggesting that he should quit the post of the Prime Minister.

Briefing the media after the meeting, party Spokesperson and party Secretariat member Narayan Kaji Shrestha said at the meeting, chairman Oli presented his political document.

According to him, next meeting is scheduled for December 1 at the party headquarters in Dhumbarahi to start discussion on the documents presented by the two chairmen.

He, however, said they were yet to go through the document presented by chairman Oli and would study the document before the next meeting.

Chairman Oli presented the political proposal as per the commitment he had made in the earlier meeting, Shrestha said, adding that the chairman in his proposal had vowed to keep the party unity intact and appealed to the leaders to strengthen the party unity.

“Copies of his political proposals have been given to the Secretariat members for study. The Secretariat members are given three days to study the documents and the next Secretariat meeting will dwell on the issues,” he added.

According to him, the party leaders have also committed to resolving the crisis surfaced within the party through dialogues.

At the meeting, Prachanda, Jhal Nath Khanal, Madhav Kumar Nepal, Bam Dev Gautam and others have expressed their views.

Stating that it was normal to hold discussions on the party’s problems and its solutions, Shrestha said that such dialogues would pave the way for party’s unity.

In the Secretariat meeting of November 18, chairman and Prime Minister Oli had said that the charges labelled against him were so serious that he would not continue as party chair and prime minister if the allegations were proven.

The party Secretariat had granted him 10 days to reply to Prachanda’s document.
