Kathmandu: An online art workshop has been launched in the capital city on Sunday.
Chancellor of Nepal Academy of Fine Arts, Kanchha Kumar Karmacharya, began the workshop by making a facial portrait of Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Parbat Gurung.
On the occasion, Minister Gurung hoped the workshop launched with the aim of making world record would contribute to reaching Nepali art and culture to the international arena.
The Ministry will extend utmost support for promoting the art and culture, he assured.
Academician Lal Kaji Lama also viewed that the workshop would help build Nepali identity in the international stage.
“It is because of the COVID-19 the artists have adopted technology to share their knowledge,” he added.
Other artists also said the event would be important to explore various dimensions of art. Coordinator of the event and Chairman of International Water Colour Society, NB Gurung, said the workshop begun today would continue for four days.
The 100-hour long workshop will be attended by 73 artists. One painter engages in the art for two hours. In case of any obstruction, 23 other artists are also in reserve.
There are various groups of artists- Province-1 is led by Mahendra Rai, Province-2 by Mukesh Mahato, Bagmati Province by Prakash Thapa, Gandaki Province by Manoj Tamang and Lumbini Province by Sumitra Rana.
Even a booklet on exhibition and artists was released on the occasion.
