Kathmandu, Nov 8: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee has approved the nominations of Nripadhwaj Niraula and Nityananda Pandey as judges of the Supreme Court. The meeting of the committee held on Friday under the chairmanship of senior member, Pashupati Shamsher JBR, and unanimously approved Niraula and Pandey for the positions.
JBR, a senior member of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee, informed that Niraula and Pandey had been unanimously approved for appointment as judges of the Supreme Court.
During the meeting, Niraula and Pandey presented their action plan and ideas on judicial performance. Following this, MPs asked questions based on complaints received regarding Niraula, with no complaints filed against judge Nityananda Pandey.
The Judicial Council meeting earlier recommended Niraula, Chief Judge of Patan High Court, and Pandey, Chief Judge of Dang Tulsipur Bench, as judges of the Supreme Court.
Both judges have pledged to work independently, impartially, efficiently, and with a focus on delivering quality justice as their primary duty and responsibility. They are committed to dispensing justice in accordance with the constitution, laws and valid principles of justice, while upholding the values of an independent, fair and competent judiciary.
As per the constitution, the President will appoint and administer the oath of office and secrecy to the newly nominated judges. #nepal #SupremeCourt #hearing
