KATHMANDU: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has prorogued the current session of both the Houses of the Federal Parliament from last midnight.

President Bhandari prorogued the parliament session on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers and in accordance with Article 93 (2) of the Constitution, according to the Office of the President.

The current session of parliament was marred by regular obstruction from the KP Sharma Oli-led main opposition party, the CPN (UML). The session failed to discuss and approve many Bills that were pending for a long time.

However, the parliament passed and approved the Bills related to budget of the current fiscal year 2021/22.
