People with hemophilia to be counted in upcoming census



KATHMANDU: The government is going to count people with hemophilia in the national consensus-2078 BS.

Hemophilia is an inherited bleeding disorder in which blood does not clot properly. People with this condition will be mentioned in the 10th number under the people with disabilities in the upcoming census.

There are so far 750 people identified with this rare disorder caused by lack of blood clotting factor although Hemophilia specialist Dr Bishes Poudel shared that there were estimated 3,500 people with this condition in Nepal.

In a press conference here today, general-secretary of Hemophilia Society of Nepal Bikalpa Neupane urged the government not to leave behind anyone with this condition in the upcoming census.

The 12th census is going to be held from November 11 to November 25 this year, according to the Central Bureau of Statistic.
