Dailekh, Dec 26: The ongoing petroleum exploration in Dailekh has reached its final phase. According to the Department of Mines and Geology, drilling has been completed up to 3,930 meters depth, with only 70 meters remaining.

Drilling work for petroleum and natural gas exploration began on May 10 in the Jaljale area of Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1. According to Ganesh Nath Tripathi, the head of the Petroleum Project at the Department, efforts are being made to complete the drilling within this month.

A Chinese technical team successfully completed the first phase of surveys, including seismic, geological, magneto-telluric, and geochemical sampling, within the stipulated time. The drilling work is also expected to finish ahead of schedule, he stated.

The project is being implemented with a grant of Rs 2.5 billion from the Chinese government. For drilling purposes, 45 ropani of land were acquired in Jaljale, Bhairavi Rural Municipality-1. A team of 80 personnel, including Chinese and Nepali experts, is engaged in the excavation. The Department of Mines and Geology, China Geological Survey, and Xibu Drilling Engineering Company are actively working on the project. #petrol #exploration #mines
