Hetauda, June 14: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has inaugurated the country’s third largest 400 KV Hetauda electrical substation amidst a program here today.
The 400 KV Hetauda substation is based on Gas Insulated System (GIS) technology, and it was put into operation (charged) since last Friday. Similarly, construction of 220 and 132/11 kV capacity substation in Thanabharyang has been completed and charged since last Friday under the Nepal-India Electricity Transmission and Trade Project.
The government has constructed three largest substations at Hetauda, Dhalkebar and Inaruwa for reliable and quality east-west electricity supply within the country and for electricity trade with India.
With the completion of the construction of the Hetauda substation, the infrastructure is capable of supplying about 4,000 megawatts of electricity. After the completion of the Hetauda-Dhalkebar-Inruwa 400 KV transmission line project, 4,000 megawatts of electricity can be transmitted east-west from Dhalkebar, which will strengthen domestic electricity supply and expand electricity trade with India.
The 400 KV double circuit transmission line to be built from Ratmate in Nuwakot by the American aid project Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) will be connected to Hetauda substation. For this, the necessary infrastructure has been constructed at Hetauda substation, NEA informed.
Hetauda, Dhalkebar and Inaruva 400 KV substation expansion project was started under the National Electricity Development Decade Program with the joint investment of the government and the NEA.
A contract agreement was signed in December 2018 for the construction of 220/132/11 KV Hetauda substation, which was built by the Nepal India Electricity Transmission and Trade Project with the investment of the government and the authority and the concessional loan of the World Bank. The estimated total cost of 400, 220 and 132 KV Hetauda substations is about three billion rupees.
