KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has self-isolated himself from Saturday after COVID-19 concerns, the Prime Minister’s Secretariat confirmed.
PM Deuba’s COVID-19 test would be conducted on Sunday. PM Deuba is in isolation after CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ tested positive for COVID-19.
PM Deuba and former PM Prachanda were present in a high-level political mechanism’s meeting held in Baluwatar two days ago. PM Deuba and other top leaders of the ruling parties were identified as contacts of Prachanda after the later tested positive for the virus.
Maoist Centre leaders Narayankaji Shrestha, Haribol Gajurel, Matrika Yadav, Dor Prasad Upadhyay, Ram Prasad Sapkota, Ramesh Malla and others have also tested positive for COVID-19.
