Kathmandu, July 8: Prime Minister Balen Shah held a meeting with representatives of the private sector on Tuesday to discuss industrial growth, investment promotion, and economic reforms.
During the meeting at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, discussions focused on revitalising the economy, improving the business environment, making industrial operations easier, removing policy and procedural barriers, strengthening private sector confidence, creating jobs, and boosting domestic production.
Describing the private sector as a key partner in the country’s economic development, investment expansion, employment generation, and production growth, the Prime Minister said the government was committed to addressing the practical challenges faced by industrialists and entrepreneurs.
He also pledged to introduce the necessary policy, legal, and administrative reforms to create a more business-friendly environment.
Representatives of the private sector urged the government to promote industrial and business activities, expand investment, ensure policy stability, simplify public service delivery, and institutionalise regular, result-oriented dialogue between the government and the private sector.
The Prime Minister said the government would carefully consider the suggestions and move forward with the required reforms through the concerned agencies. He reiterated the government’s commitment to working in close partnership with the private sector to advance the country’s economic reform agenda.
The meeting was attended by Anjan Shrestha, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI); Ujjawal Kumar Shrestha, President of the FNCCI Industry Committee; Rajesh Kumar Agrawal, immediate past President of the Confederation of Nepalese Industries (CNI); CNI Director General Dr Ghan Shyam Ojha; Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal, President of the Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC); and NCC Senior Vice-President Dipak Malhotra, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
Also present were Chief Advisor Kumar Ben, Information and Communications Technology Advisor Bibek Mishra, Chief Personal Secretary Subas Sharma, and House of Representatives member Bidushi Rana.
According to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat, the high-level meeting is expected to contribute to the formulation of private sector-friendly policies while strengthening industrial growth, improving the investment climate, and enhancing cooperation between the government and the private sector. #nepal
