Kathmandu, Nov 13: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stated that the Karnali Academy of Health Sciences will be operated more effectively to provide quality education and healthcare services.
Speaking at the academy’s first convocation ceremony, Chancellor Oli expressed happiness that the people of Karnali are now able to access quality healthcare locally.
He announced that the process of establishing a 100-bed hospital in Rakam Karnali has begun.
Prime Minister Oli reiterated the Nepal government’s commitment to providing the necessary facilities and services at the academy. He shared that he has been familiar with the academy’s vision from the beginning and, despite challenges, managed to obtain approval for running medical classes during his previous tenure as Prime Minister.
He expressed happiness over reaching the first convocation and wished the graduating students success, encouraging them to set new records in their respective fields.
Oli acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the students, along with the investment, hope, and trust of their families. He urged the graduates to work toward providing quality healthcare services to people in remote areas. “I am pleased that Karnali is advancing,” he stated. “For the people of 13 districts, including Karnali and Sudurpaschim, receiving healthcare services here was once considered an impossible dream, but this is a moment of fulfillment. Now, it is our responsibility to operate it even more effectively.”
A total of 58 students graduated in public health, nursing, and medical sciences at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Health and Population Minister Pradeep Paudel, and Vice-Chair of the Medical Education Commission, Dr. Anjani Kumar Jha, were also present at the ceremony.
