KATHMANDU: The Standing Committee meeting of the NCP-Oli group is being held today. The meeting will discuss the situation after the Supreme Court annulled the dissolution of the parliament.
The meeting is scheduled for 11 am.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari had dissolved the House of Representatives on December 20 on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court ruled that Oli’s move was unconstitutional and that parliament should be reconstituted.
At the same time, Oli has two options: resign or prove his majority in parliament. But the Oli faction does not have a majority in parliament. However, Oli’s press adviser Surya Thapa said the Prime Minister Oli would not resign and would face parliament.
