Damak, July 28: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has expressed sorrow over demise of folk singer Laxmi Prasad Joshi (LP).
Taking to social media today, Prime Minister Oli expressed high respect and heartfelt tribute to Joshi. The popular folk singer Joshi died on Friday and his last rites are to be performed today.
PM Oli mentioned that Joshi is respected musician and singer. PM Oli writes on his Facebook page, “We both are from Damak. So he was my close friend, brother and all.”
Meanwhile, Damak municipality announced half-day holiday to mourn the death of Joshi today. Issuing a notice today, Chief Administrative Officer Ganesh Raj Karki, said half-day holiday has been given at the Damak municipality, Office of the Municipal Executive, all wards of the municipality and educational institutions operated at Damak municipality (except Damak Hospital) after 1:00 pm.
Joshi’s contribution to entire nation not only in Damak through songs, music, literature, sports and art would always be remembered, reads the condolence message.
Joshi of Damak-1 died on Thursday at the age of 88. His last rites would be performed at Kankai river bank today afternoon, according to the family source.
‘Riting Riting Nabajau Biyano’, ‘Ollo Kholo, Pallao Khola, Kamila Ko Golo Bhanera Hau Ranajyu’ are his hit songs. He was honoured from different national and international awards.
