Lumbini, April 26: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the philosophy of peace propounded by the great personality Buddha was gaining further relevance in the present time chequered by the conflict and hatred.
The path showed by Guatam Buddha must be made visible along with peace and non-violence across the globe, said PM Oli while inaugurating the 4th Asian Buddhist Cultural Festival at Lumbini, birthplace of Lord Buddha today.
Such programmes further highlight Lumbini and Buddhist philosophy, thereby making it an attraction for study of related education in the world, he said, adding that war and violence can not establish peace.
Arms race is detrimental to world peace, he observed. “The festival can spread a positive message of peace through Buddhism, art, culture, history, research and interaction. Buddha’s philosophy of peace and non-violence gives impetus to humanity and compassion,” the PM reminded.
The Head of the Government reminded Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to promote Lumbini through education, seminar, discourse, meditation and yog.
The event will have presentations of 40 working papers on Buddhist culture, art, tradition, medicine and education.
The event was attended by various dignitaries from 40 countries, including Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pande and Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, Chet Narayan Acharya.
The event has aimed at promoting global peace through Buddhist philosophy and culture.#nepal #political #rss
