Pokhara, July 1: Stakeholders and community people have drawn Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s attention to advance actions for conservation of Fewa Lake, one of the key tourist destinations in the country.
The National Heritage and People’s Rights Protection Committee urged PM Prachanda to take effective measures for the conservation of the lake that has suffered encroachment from natural and human activities.
Committee’s Chairman Sunil Pandey, advocate Bhagawati Pahari, then coordinator of Fewa Lake’s Encroached Land Probe Committee Bishwa Prakash Lamichhane and others met PM Dahal and asked for the sustainable conservation of the lake, which is enlisted as the Ramsar site in the country.
On the occasion, the PM made his firm commitment to implement the Supreme Court’s verdicts on preservation of the lake and take other moves adding that Fewa Lake is linked to the future of Pokhara.
“The government is serious to the issues of Fewa Lake. It is our responsibility to preserve our (natural) heritages. The government will act for this,” PM Prachanda assured the locals. RSS
