Panchthar, Sept 1: A police station has been established at Thakepung of Phalelung Rural Municipality in Panchthar district. A total of 15 police will be stationed there under the command of an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI). However, only six police personnel are deployed at present.
A meeting of the Council of Ministers in 2019 had decided to establish a police station in Phalelung.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Hari Khatiwada of District Police Office said that the police station was formally inaugurated on Wednesday as per the government’s decision.
Earlier, the Area Police Office at Memeng was overseeing the issues of law and order for lack of police station at Thakepung, the centre of Phalelung Rural Municipality.
Currently, the newly-established police station will have a rented house.
