Kathmandu, May 8: The Nepal Policy Leadership Programme which was conducted by the Nepal Policy Institute (NPI) in cooperation with the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers and the Kathmandu University (KU) has concluded.
The eight-month-long programme was designed for the government officials, NPI President Dr Khagendra Raj Dhakal said. He shared that 25 high-level government officials representing 16 different ministries attended the training programme.
During the concluding session of the programme, President Dr Dhakal stated that the programme was designed to foster experiential learning based on real-world case studies, providing participants with essential analytical tools and policy frameworks to support critical decision-making processes.
Likewise, Vice Chancellor of KU Prof Dr Achyut Wagle commented that while civil servants often possess academic knowledge for policy formulation, the implementation is frequently hindered due to political leadership lacking the same level of commitment.
He described the programme as a practical and creative intervention to address this gap and affirmed Kathmandu University’s continued partnership with NPI for future policy research and capacity-building programs.
Likewise, former secretary Gopinath Mainali highlighted the success of the programme and noted that it was a result of effective tripartite collaboration among NPI, KU and the Nepal government. It is shared that nine facilitators were involved in the programme, including both national and international experts. #nepal #Nepal Policy #rss
