Biratnagar, Feb 7: Chief Minister of Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki said the province government is committed to bring a new industrial policy favouring entrepreneurs.
At an interactive session with stakeholders on the draft of Industrial Policy 2081, organised by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies here today, he stressed the need for an industrial policy to promote indigenous raw materials to avail private sector.
The products manufactured from imported raw materials cannot compete in the foreign market, Chief Minister Karki said, stressing the need to come up with an industrial policy to reduce the cost of production and promote indigenous raw material-based industries that can also boost income.
Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Ram Bahadur Magar said an industrial policy was needed to help the State sustain and encourage the private sector.He urged the private sector to reap benefits by producing high-quality goods and demanded the responsibility for establishing medium-scale industries under domain of the province government.
Mayor of Biratnagar Metropolitan City, Nagesh Koirala underlined the need of mutual coordination for the implementation of the policies and programmes. He stressed the need to facilitate the process to bring policies and programmes so as to win the confidence of entire private sector which he claimed would make a significant contribution to the country’s economic activities by creating jobs and revenue.#nepal #political #rss
