Monsoon-related disaster survivors to be provided relief



Kathmandu, Feb 25: The government has decided to provide relief support to the families who have their loved ones missing due to monsoon-related disasters.

In case a person who has gone missing following a disaster is not found for at least ten days, relief support equivalent to those who are presumed dead will be provided through the concerned District Disaster Management Fund.

Making public the decisions of the Council of Ministers meeting held on Monday, Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that it has been decided to provide relief to the families of those who went missing due to monsoon-related disasters since Baisakh 1, 2080.

Speaking at a press conference held at the Communications Ministry today, Minister Gurung shared that approval has been given to the Ministry of Finance to make arrangements to pay the liabilities created by the projects and programs included in the approved program and budget of the fiscal year 2080/81 and completed in the same fiscal year but payment remains due.

Likewise, a negotiation team shall be formed to finalize the financial agreement and program document regarding the acceptance of the proposed concessional loan amount of 150 million USD from the World Bank Group’s International Development Association under the third phase of the ‘Bridges Improvement and Maintenance Program’, and authorize the team to negotiate with the World Bank. Furthermore, the cabinet has appointed Sharad Ojha of Kanchanpur as the chairman of the Nepal Insurance Board.

The cabinet meeting today has decided to approve Minister for Water Supply Pradeep Yadav to participate in the program to sign a memorandum of understanding on the development of the drinking water and sanitation sector in India to be held from February 18 to 22, approve the Land Registration (First Amendment) Order, 2081 under Gauradaha Municipality-4 and 5 of Jhapa,

Similarly, the meeting has decided to approve Pathari Shanishchare Municipality of Morang to use the land of the national forest located in the same municipality-10 for the construction of the municipality’s administrative building. It has also granted authority to the Indigenous Peoples Commission to sign a Memorandum of Understanding on ‘Strengthening Friendly Cooperation’ to with the Indigenous Peoples Commission and the ‘National Ethical Affairs Commission (NEAC)’ of the People’s Republic of China.#nepal #political #rss
