Prime Minister Oil’s calls for increased participation in Constitution Day celebration

Kathmandu, Aug 21: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called on one and all to celebrate the Constitution and National Day with a great enthusiasm and much fanfare.

“The constitution had come as an achievement of a large sacrifice and struggle and the Day itself stands for its significance, gravity, distinctness and comprehensiveness,” he said.

The Head of the Government urged all to prepare for the celebration of the Day in such a way so that it could be taken to people’s level widely.

In his address to a meeting of the Constitution Day and National Day Main Celebration Committee in the Ministry of Home Affairs today, the Prime Minister sought the participation of people from all walks of life ranging from business community to teachers to every household and Nepali citizen in the celebrations.

“The Constitution Day marks the occasion when the rights of Nepali citizen were enshrined, setting off a journey towards opportunities, dignity, security, prosperity and happiness,” the Prime Minister said, recalling the Day as the festival of determination, commitment and resolution.

The meeting held under the chair of Prime Minister Oli has decided to celebrate the Day in a grand manner for three consecutive days starting from September 19. Formal preparations for the same will start from September 13.

The Committee has decided to ban the use of flags except those made of paper and cloth during the celebration.

The constitution has adopted the federal republic system and it is a result of people’s greater sacrifice, struggle, dedication and achievements of different times, according to the Prime Minister who said the country’s main law has addressed the people’s expressions, and mandates.

“The constitution as a document of common understanding has incorporated the spirit of greater national interests and national aspirations.”

Describing the constitution as the compilation of achievements which had been possible through struggle and sacrifices over the course of time, he said, ” It is the reflection of present and offers a future course of action. It has the stories of sorrows, tears and sacrifice in the past, complexities and necessities of the present and offers a guideline for a future destination.”
