Priority to new education act: Minister Bhattarai



Kathmandu, July 16: The newly appointed Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Bidya Bhattarai, has said making new education act was her priority.

Assuming the office at Singha Durbar on Monday, Minister Bhattarai said the bill designed to make education act which is under discussion in the parliament would be forwarded soon.

She made the first decision on enforcement of nutrition development programme in school based on local need.

Similarly, the Minister decided to form a committee coordinated by a joint secretary for the effective enforcement of budget for the coming fiscal year.

Bhattarai said, “Community schools lack quality education. My responsibility will be to restore attraction to community school.”

Similarly, the Minister stressed on enforcement of educational calendar in university.

She reminded why university education was not retaining students. “Time has come for universities to pay heed on retaining its products within country, for which I will work devotedly,” Bhattarai added.

Bhattarai represents the CPN UML. She had joined politics from students’ movement of 2046BS.

She also worked as a chief of women department of ANNFSU in 2050BS. Bhattarai was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in the by poll held after her husband Rabindra Adhikari died in a helicopter crash in 2075BS.

She was also elected HoR member from Kaski in 2079BS general election. Earlier, she was a permanent teacher at Ratna Rajya Campus. #nepal
