Probe committee formed to investigate in recent gold scam

Kathmandu, July 20: The Department of Customs has formed a probe committee to investigate into the incident after around one quintal of gold was passed from TIA without checking.

A six member probe committee was formed under coordination of Director of Investigation Section of Department of Customs, Man Bahadur Poudel, said Information Officer, Punya Bikram Khadka.

The Probe Committee has been directed to submit the report within five days. Director General of the Department, Shova Kanta Poudel, formed the committee today after around one quintal gold was passed from customs.

Information Officer Khadka shared, “The probe committee has been formed as such situation can be seen sometimes due to technical error even Department staffs carry out necessary check.”

The Department of Revenue Investigation had seized around 100 kilogrammes of gold from Sinamangal on Wednesday. Total six persons have been arrested in this connection so far.

Director General of the Department of Revenue Investigation, Nabaraj Dhungana, said the seized yellow metal has been sent at Nepal Rastra Bank through Department of Customs to keep it safely.
