Prohibition order for 15 days instead of 7 days: Cabinet

KATHMANDU: The government has decided to impose a 15-day lockdown in Kathmandu Valley and other high-risk districts. A cabinet meeting held on Monday decided to issue a 15-day injunction in high-risk districts due to the high rate of infection.

Earlier, the district administration Offices including Kathmandu Valley had announced a seven-day ban. Now, the period of this lockdown will be extended as per the decision of the Council of Ministers.

“Even if the district administration offices say 7 days, the cabinet has decided for 15 days. Now the district administration will follow the same decision,” said Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel. The administrations of Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur have issued restraining orders till midnight on May 3.

Earlier, the ban was imposed in Banke, Bardiya, Baglung and Kalikot urban, densely populated and border areas, while in Surkhet from 12 noon on Tuesday and in Kaski from 6 am on Wednesday for seven days.
