Proposal seeking consideration on appropriation bill approved

KATHMANDU: The second meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has approved the proposal seeking consideration on the Appropriation Bill, 2079 BS.

The House unanimously endorsed the proposal presented by Finance Minister Janardan Sharma seeking consideration on the Appropriation Bill, 2079.

Taking part in the theoretical debate on the proposal, Sher Bahadur Tamang underlined the need of re-consideration on the appropriation bill calling for clarifying theoretical and implementation aspects of the budget.

Parliamentarian Dev Prasad Gurung appreciated overall aspect of the bill and expected its successful implementation.

Responding to queries raised on the theoretical deliberations, Minister Sharma clarified that the Ministry of Finance did not cut off the budget on its own but budget transfers were made when the line ministries failed to spend the allocated budget.

Minister Sharma highlighted the need of forging national consensus on the agenda of development and national pride projects.

Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has set June 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 for deliberations and response on different topics of the appropriation bill, 2079 related to various ministries and secretaries.

Likewise, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Govinda Prasad Sharma Koirala presented a proposal seeking consideration on the ‘bill to amend some laws against sexual violence, 2079’.

Parliamentary members Binda Pandey, Dila Sangraula Pant and Bimala BK among others took part in the theoretical debate of the bill.

Next meeting of the HoR will take place at 11.00 am on June 6.
