Kathmandu, June 12: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Friday unanimously approved a proposal seeking consideration on the Intangible Cultural Heritage (Protection) Bill, 2026.
Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Khadag Raj Paudel, presented the Bill which was originated in the National Assembly (NA). It aims at safeguarding intangible cultural heritages and creating opportunities for financial benefits.
Minister Paudel reminded lawmakers of government’s commitment to protecting such heritage through special initiatives. So, collaboration among relevant agencies is imperative, he argued.
The Bill is prepared to further enhance national pride, consolidate Nepali’s identity, and acknowledge the historical and traditional knowledge.
During the discussion, various HoR members viewed on multiple aspects of the Bill, indicating a broad interest and concern for the preservation of cultural heritage in Nepal.
Members of Parliament Kripaya Maharjan, Prakash Chandra Pariyar, Pramila Kumari Gachchadar, Ganesh Karki, Samikshya Baskota, Anushka Shrestha, Rima Bishwakarma, Tahir Ali Bhat, Ranju Neupane, Parashuram Tamang, Rajeev Khatri, Guru Prasad Baral, Rukesh Ranjit, Ashish Gajurel, Rahabar Ansari, Bharat Giri, Bhim Kumari Budha, Sumnima Udas, Sulav Kharel, Sajita Khatun Siddiqui, Bishwaraj Pokharel, Madan Krishna Shrestha and Manmaya Bishwakarma took part in the deliberation on the Bill. #nepal #rss
