Province Chief calls for the formation of new government in Madhesh province



Janakpur, June 6: Madhesh Province Chief Sumitra Bhandari has called for the formation of a new government. After Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav failed to garner a vote of confidence, the provincial chief Bhandari has called for the formation of a new government.

Shatrudhan Yadav, Acting Secretary of the Chief Minister’s Office, issued a statement and mentioned that the Province Chief has given time till 10 am on Friday to submit the claim to the post of Chief Minister in accordance with Article 168 of the Constitution.

According to Article 168 of the Constitution, sub-section 2, the Provincial Assembly member who can obtain a majority with the support of two or more parties represented in the Provincial Assembly by 10:00 AM on Frida to submit his/her claim for the purpose of appointing the Chief Minister of Madhesh Province.

Earlier, on Wednesday, Madhesh Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav has failed to get the vote of confidence in the voting at Provincial Assembly. According to the Secretariat of Provincial Assembly, CM Yadav managed to get 50 votes and 53 votes were cast against him. The Chief Minister needed 54 votes to save the government. One hundred and three MPs were present in the provincial assembly.

Chief Minister Yadav has to take the vote of confidence for the fifth time in one and a half years period. The chief minister has been given a vote of confidence by his party Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal, Nepali Congress, Loktantrik Samajbadi Party (LSP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

CPN (UML), Janamat Party, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist) have voted in opposition. On Poush 23, 2079 BS, Yadav, the leader of the JSP parliamentary party, became the Chief Minister with the support of CPN UML, Janamat, Maoist Center, LSP, CPN Unified Socialist and other fringe parties.

Even when the alliance was changed, Chief Minister Yadav had previously received the vote of confidence four times, but he did not get the confidence vote for the fifth time. Along with this, JSP Nepal has lost power in Madhesh province for the first time.

After the collapse of the Chief Minister Yadav’s government, now the central alliance has started trying to form a government here. CPN (UML), CPN (Maoist Center), Janamat Party, CPN (Unified Socialist), Nagarik Unmukti and other parties have agreed to form a government here under the leadership of Janamat Party. #nepal #madhes #JSP
