Doha, March 25: The Ministry of Labour Qatar has expanded its digital services to simplify the process for workers seeking to change employers, introducing a integrated e-services platform aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in the labour market.
According to the Ministry, the upgraded “Employer Change Service” enables resident workers in Qatar to transfer employment through an integrated online platform. The system is designed to reduce administrative delays while ensuring compliance with labour regulations.
Workers can access the service via the Ministry’s electronic portals. Applications may be submitted either through the Individuals Portal or by authorised company representatives through the Establishments Portal. All users are required to log in via the national authentication system and provide necessary details of both the worker and the prospective employer.
As part of the process, a new employment contract must be recorded and approved by both parties. The current employer is formally notified and given the opportunity to respond before the Ministry reviews the application and issues a decision.
Once approved, the contract is authenticated and the legally mandated notice period is observed. The process is then forwarded to the Ministry of Interior, which updates the worker’s residency status to reflect the new employment, completing all legal formalities.
The Ministry stated that applicants must verify eligibility prior to applying. This includes ensuring no bans are in place on either the worker or employer, confirming that the new employer’s registration is valid, and verifying that no other transfer request is under review. Workers must also confirm the absence of non-compete clauses or related restrictions.
Officials said the initiative reflects ongoing efforts to enhance labour mobility while safeguarding the rights of both workers and employers. By digitising the process, authorities aim to improve accessibility, strengthen accountability, and provide workers with greater flexibility in pursuing suitable employment opportunities. #nepal #qatar
