Rabi Lamichhane’s candidature in Chitwan-2 retained



Kathmandu, April 5: The Election Office in Chitwan has confirmed Rabi Lamichhane’s candidacy today. Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) Chairman Mr Lamichhane is contesting by-election from Chitwan-2 to be held on the 10th of Baisakh (April 23).

According to Election Officer, Bharatpur Chitwan, his candidacy has been confirmed and he will be eligible to contest.

Four complaints were registered against Lamichhane at the Chief Electoral Office on Tuesday. Three complaints were filed by other candidates and their representatives, while one complaint was registered by lawyer Yubaraj Paudel “Saphal” via email.

Earlier, the Supreme Court revoked the citizenship of Rabi Lamichhane, and canceled his seats as Member of Parliament, Chairman of the party.  There are 124,695 voters in this constituency. They will vote from 138 centers in 43 places.

However, another writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court. The SC has to decide on this matter, and hearing continue in the court for the case of passport forgery.
