KATHMANDU: At least 111 people have so far lost their lives in the rain-induced incidents of floods, landslides and inundation.
According to the Nepal Police Headquarters, as many as 37 people are still missing in the incidents of flood and landslides in different parts of the country.
Among those killed in the disaster are 65 in Province 1, one in Bagmati Province, two in Gandaki Province, four in Lumbini Province, seven in Karnali Province and 32 in Sudurpaschim Province.
Some 42 people have been injured across the country, police informed. Among those missing are 11 in Province 1, one each in Lumbini and Karnali Province and 23 in Sudurpaschim Province, it is informed. Search for the missing is underway.
As many as 2,232 houses were submerged in floods while the disastrous incidents have caused loss and damage to 78 houses, 16 sheds, six bridges, one school and three government offices. A total of 186 livestock were killed in the rain-triggered disaster, it is shared. During the period, 1,188 households were displaced.
Police informed that efforts are underway to keep the disaster vulnerable people of different districts in secured places, rescue those entrapped in disaster and provide relief to the indigent sections.
