KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the dissolved House of Representatives cannot be reinstated.
Addressing a gathering of party workers in Kathmandu on Saturday, Prime Minister Oli said that the parliament would not be reinstated under any circumstances while the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives was under consideration in the Supreme Court.
Prime Minister Oli said that Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachand and Madhav Kumar Nepal had spread rumors of the restoration of the House of Representatives to keep the cadres in their side. ‘Where did the idea of re-establishing the House of Representatives come from? Who said restoration happens? They may have said to deceive the party cadres,’ said the Prime Minister Oli.
He criticised that the Prachanda-Madhav faction was regularly exerting pressure against the government, and demanding special session of the House without informing the Chairman and Prime Minister. He said, “There was no option instead to dissolve the House and seek fresh mandate from the people.”
Stating that the Parliament and it’s committees even failed to endorse different bills for the past three years, he said that these activities were intentional and targeted towards government.
Prime Minister Oli was adamant that the House of Representatives would not be restored as he had about two-thirds of the seats. He said, “Even Supreme Court and Election Commission will hear and give verdict in favour of the government.”
“The recommendation to dissolve the House of Representatives and move for a new mandate is because democracy, the constitution, stability,” Oli said.
In his nearly 2 hours of address, Oli repeatedly attacked Prachanda-Madhav faction of NCP. Using rhetorics and cutting humourous jokes, he criticised Prachanda-Madhav faction as destructive force of the country.
