Returnee migrant makes good income from Akabare chilly farming

Ilam, Aug 4: Khadga Bahadur Karki of Mangsebung Rural Municipality-2 in Ilam district has made a decent income from commercial farming of Akabare chilly for the last two years.

Karki, a returnee migrant from Malaysia, has done commercial farming of Akabare chilly in eight ropani of land and has earned Rs 1.5 million in a year.

He has also registered a business firm in the name of ‘Bataha Agriculture and Nursery Farm’.

“I grew 11 quintals of Akabare chilly last year from 1,000 plants. I made good income in the first year of business venture,” he said adding that he sold his product for Rs 250 to Rs 300 per kilogram.

I have expanded my business this year, elated Karki shared.  Excited by the success of his business, he has planted 5,000 plants of Akabare by leasing four ropani of land from others.

Karki shared that he is not worried about the lack of market for the product and added that he plans to make about Rs 1 million to 1.5 million in profit in a year.  The Akabare chilly grown here sold to the traders from Ilam bazaar, Damak in Jhapa and Itahari in Sunsari too. #Akabare #chilly #nepal #rss
