Kathmandu, Feb 2: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided not to leave the government immediately and to put its demand in the meeting of the high-level political mechanism. The majority of MPs and central members of the party did not accept Chairman Rabi Lamichhane’s proposal. He has warned several times that he will leave the government if he does not get the Ministry of Home Affairs again.
In the joint meeting of the Central Committee and the Parliamentary Party held on Thursday evening, most of the leaders suggested that a wait and see policy should be adopted now. “We are waiting for the meeting of the high-level mechanism and we are sitting on the policy of wait and see,” a member of parliament who participated in the meeting said.
After the meeting, RSP spokesperson Mukul Dhakal informed that Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda and CPN UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli requested to wait for two more days. “Prime Minister and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli called our Chairman Lamichhane and asked for time while the meeting was going on,” Dhakal said, “If nothing is done in two days, we will hold a party meeting again and reach a decision.”
RSP Chairman Lamichhane warned on Thursday afternoon that he will leave the government saying that he will not remain as an Abhimanyu. After giving the warning, he called a joint meeting of the party central committee and the parliamentary party.
Lamichhane hesitated to decide to leave the government after the majority suggested that he should read the political scenario and rethink over the Home Ministry.
