RSP President Lamichhane casts doubt over new alliance

Kathmandu, July 12: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President and Minister for Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane has expressed his doubt over the relevance and need of the newly formed alliance between the Nepali Congress and CPN (UML).

In the deliberation on the proposal presented by Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ seeking a vote of confidence in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Lamichhane claimed that the consensus forged between the two big parties in the parliament was not a national consensus.

Lamichhane, also the Chairperson of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, blamed that the new alliance was formed in the pretext of amending the constitution and was for the sake for power.

He also accused CPN (UML) was abandoning political integrity and was into changing government. He also expressed his concern over the likelihood of crisis in separation of power when two big parties come on board to form the government.

On a different note, he shared that his party would give a vote of confidence to PM Dahal.

He also reaffirmed his commitment that his party, which will be the opposition in the new government, will cooperate to the new government in its steps on the matters good governance and prosperity of the country.
