Kathmandu, April 9: The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to support the Shram Sanskriti Party (SSP) in the election for Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR).
The Shram Sanskriti Party has nominated Ruby Kumari Thakur as its candidate for the post. According to RSP spokesperson Manish Jha, lawmaker Ashok Kumar Chaudhary will second Thakur’s candidacy on behalf of the party.
With the support from RSP, Ruby will be elected as Deputy Speaker. The RSP has the 182 seats in the 275-member lower House.
Meanwhile, Rastriya Swatantra Party (RPP) has fielded lawmaker Saraswoti Lama as it’s candidate.
According to the Constitution of Nepal, the lower House must elect female Deputy Speaker from opposition party if Speaker was a male. The House has already elected Dol Prasad Aryal (DP Aryal) as the Speaker from Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP). #nepal #Speaker
