RSP will take action against involved in obstructing media houses: Rabi Lamichhane

Kathmandu, July 14: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has said the party will take action against anyone found responsible for obstructing the entrances to media houses in the federal capital.

On Monday, several vehicles with private number plates were found parked in front of the entrances of some media organizations and the residence of Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa, blocking access to the premises. Police later removed the vehicles and fined their owners for violating traffic regulations.

Responding to journalists’ questions at Singha Durbar on Tuesday, Lamichhane said those responsible for parking the vehicles would face action. He noted that the RSP had immediately condemned the incident through an official statement, reaffirming the party’s commitment to press freedom and calling for legal action against those involved.

“The Rastriya Swatantra Party was the first to issue a statement condemning the incident and demanding action against those responsible. The RSP has a history of taking disciplinary action against its own lawmakers within 72 hours. Therefore, if anyone—including an RSP member or supporter—is found to be involved, action will be taken,” Lamichhane said.

Asked about his recent meeting with Prime Minister Balendra Shah, Lamichhane said the discussion focused on finding sustainable and timely solutions to the problems faced by squatters, as well as other contemporary national issues, the evolving political situation, and matters related to their respective parties. #nepal
