Ruling coalition decides to endorse MCC in parliament today

A meeting of the ruling alliance convened this morning at the Prime Minister’s official residence at Baluwatar has decided to endorse the American assistance project, Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC), in parliament along with explanatory declaration.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Nepali Congress leader Ram Chandra Poudel said the meeting of the ruling alliance has decided that the House of Representatives which is meeting today will ratify the MCC after the government makes it clear that the compact is not under the military organisation but purely an economic assistance.

Present in the meeting were Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, Janata Samjabadi Party Chairman Upendra Yadav among the leaders of the ruling coalition.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the CPN (Maoist Center) today morning had decided to ratify the MCC along with explanatory note.
