Kathmandu, Aug 16: The ruling coalition partners have sat down today to discuss the issue of removing parliament obstruction caused by the main opposition CPN (UML).
The meeting involving Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, CPN (Unified Socialist) Madhav Kumar Nepal, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Purna Bahadur Khadka, and Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha took a decision to expedite a dialogue on remove the parliament stalemate with the parties representing the parliament including the main opposition, according to the Secretariat of Prime Minister.
The meeting took place at the residence of Prime Minister in Baluwatar.
The main opposition CPN UML have been demanding to form a high level commission or parliamentary probe committee to investigate gold smuggling scam recently surfaced in the country.
However, other fringe parties including Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) raised voice over the obstruction of the parliament session. They have presented a memorandum to the House Speaker to expedite ways to continue parliament so that they can raise voice on the public interest issues, and proceed for the pending bills in the House.
