Kathmandu, July 23: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has spoken about the need to renew Nepal-Russia relations based on mutual benefit and respect.
During his meeting with a Russian women’s volleyball team at his official residence in Baluwatar today, the Prime Minister acknowledged support from Russia to Nepal in the education, transport, and other sectors since the Soviet Union days, according to the Prime Minister’s Private Secretariat.
In terms of the development of sports, Russia is at the forefront, the Prime Minister said, adding that a friendly volleyball match between the two countries is praiseworthy.
Sports contribute to strengthening the bilateral relations between the nations, according to the Prime Minister. He also underlined the need for a cultural exchange between the two countries.
On the occasion, first secretary of Embassy of Russia in Nepal, the officials of Nepali volleyball association, Chair of Nepal-Russia Friendship Association Upendra Mahato, among others were present.
The Russian volleyball team was in Nepal for the three-match friendship game which they won by 3-0. However, Nepali team was happy to play with world ranking Russian team in Nepal.
