Salt Trading stop selling food at concessional prices

KATHMANDU: Government-owned Food Management and Trading Companies and Salt Trading Corporation have stopped giving discounts to consumers on food items.

It has been decided not to give exemption saying that the COVID-19 prohibitory order has been relaxed.

Consumers have been getting 20 percent discount since June 3 when they buy STC gas, salt, oil, rice, flour, sugar and food items from the trading outlets.

Pankaj Joshi, assistant executive officer of Salt Trading Corporation, said that the discount has been postponed due to the current changed situation.

In the budget statement of the Fiscal Year 2078/79 BS, the government had announced to provide concessions in daily necessities to those who are facing problems due to the ban.
