Kathmandu, Oct 13: The Nepali national cricket player Sandeep Lamichhane has announced his withdrawal from the upcoming cricket tournament.
In a message on social media, including Facebook and Twitter, he said, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to withdraw my name from the upcoming tournament. I have been going through difficult and challenging times of my life and I realise I need to revitalise myself and needed family time.”
He has further expressed his gratitude for all the blessings and wishes he has received thus far.
Sandeep has been facing a rape charge, and the Kathmandu District Court has to announce the final verdict. However, the court has been delaying the verdict thus creating confusion and tension over his cricket career. Despite the court cases, he has been included in the Nepali squad for domestic and abroad matches.
He has remained one of the leading figure in the Nepali cricket team.
According to the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), Nepal is hosting a tri-series match in Kathmandu. Along with Nepal, UAE and Hong Kong are included in the competition. According to the CAN, the series will be conducted in Kathmandu from October 18 to October 27.
