Sapkota’s Bahek explores inner conflict and family fragmentation

Kathmandu, Dec 20: Nepali writer Dr Dharma Sapkota ‘Raju’ presents a compelling literary narrative in his novel Bahek, which examines the complex interplay between the mind, body, and society.

The work explores how internal psychological struggles and external social pressures shape human behaviour and identity. At its core, Bahek portrays the tensions that arise when personal emotions and physical realities come into conflict with rigid societal expectations.

The novel highlights how such conflicts often result in family fragmentation, emotional distancing, and deep misunderstandings among loved ones. Through a nuanced and sensitive narrative, Bahek also addresses the theme of acceptance, illustrating how recognising one’s individual truth—both internally and socially—can be a challenging yet essential journey.

Through his storytelling, Sapkota sheds light on the often-silent struggles individuals endure and the broader social consequences that follow. Bahek stands as a reflective and thought-provoking work, encouraging readers to reconsider the delicate balance between personal identity, familial relationships, and societal norms.

The novel was launched at a programme held in Kathmandu on Friday in the presence of literary figures Shyamal Adhikari, Rajkumar Baniya, Suman Barsha, the author himself, and Pushparaj Poudel of Shiha Books, the publisher of the novel. #nepal #literature
