Kathmandu, Oct 31: The Supreme Court has issued an order, asking the government to not enforce its decision to remove Dr Dwarika Prasad Upreti from the post of Executive Director of Foreign Employment Board for time being.

A single bench of Justice Balkrishna Dhakal issued the interim order to continue Director Upreti in the post for now.

The Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security had decided to remove him from the post.

The procedure Ministry followed to remove the ED from the post was faulty and wrong in prime facie.

While the Director was still in position, another was given the same responsibility which flouted legal procedure.

On August 22, 2022, Dr Upreti was appointed the Executive Director at the Board for four years’ term.

The ministry sought a written justification from him on 21 October 2024 giving him a deadline of three days, and at the same time, gave responsibility to another official, which the Court said was against law.

Upreti had filed a petition reasoning his removal from the post was an illegal act of the ministry. #sc
