Scott and Shayna, deaf climber duo, attempting Manaslu

Kathmandu, Aug 29: Scott and Shayna, a deaf climber duo from the United States, are embarking on another adventure of mountaineering, taking on the challenge of climbing Mount Manaslu (8,163 metres).

For this adventure, the duo has arrived in Nepal.

Known for pushing themselves to their limits, the duo has already made headlines by climbing some of the world’s most iconic peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, Kilimanjaro, Aconcagua, Denali, Mont Blanc, and Matterhorn.

Both profoundly deaf, Scott and Shayna have shown remarkable strength in exploring the world of outdoor adventure.

They shared that they learned mostly by watching videos on YouTube and writing things down, demonstrating how they can overcome the challenges associated with being deaf.

Their strong desire to help other deaf people enjoy the outdoors reflect their love for nature and their belief in inclusivity.

The expedition is organised by Seven Summit Treks (SST), a leading Nepal-based expedition operator, and led by renowned twin guides, Mingma Dorchi and Mingma Tenji.

SST expresses its pride in supporting their journey and promoting their positive message about the capabilities of individuals with disabilities.
