KATHMANDU: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Prem Bahadur Ale has informed that search and rescue operation of the missing Tara Air aircraft has been going on since this morning.

After the ruling of Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota in today’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Minister Ale informed the house that the twin-otter plane of Tara Air that flew from Pokhara to Jomsom at 9:55 this morning went out of contact after 10:11.

Although the search for the missing plane with 22 passengers and crew was intensified, the situation was difficult due to inclement weather, said Minister Ale, adding that three helicopters were on standby in Pokhara and Jomsom for rescue.

He said that the search operation was being carried out with the help of the Nepal Army in the missing area.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prem Prasad Tulachan, an MP from the main opposition party CPN (UML) demanded immediate formation of a commission of inquiry to find out the truth of the incident.
