KATHMANDU: The government has endorsed security features to be included in the e-passport of the country.

The meeting of Council of Ministers here today took a number of decisions including endorsement of security features for the e-passport, shared Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentarian Affairs Gyanendra Bahadur Karki.

The biometric passport is equipped with an electronic microprocessor chip. According to Minister Karki, also spokesperson of the government, the government was also preparing to implement e-passport in near future.

Similarly, the meeting today decided to approve the Employment permit system operation and management (first amendment) gudelines-2078 BS. Likewise, Joint-secretary Rabi Lal Pant was promoted to special class under the administrative service.

Joint attorney Dr Gopichandra Bhattarai has been designated as the member of the Foreign Employment Tribunal.

The meeting also formed a delegation that will be representing Nepal in the Commemorative High-Level Meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement to be held from October 10-14 later this year.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Narayan Khadka will lead the Nepali delegation, shared Minister Karki.
