Security to former King Gyanendra Shah being slashed?

KATHMANDU: Former King Gyanendra Shah’s personal secretary Sagar Prasad Timilsina has urged the government to reconsider the decision to reduce the security of VIPs.

Recently, the Ministry of Home Affairs has decided to slash security arrangements for VIPs. In a letter to the Home Ministry, Timilsina has urged the government to reconsider its decision.

At present, 99 security personnel are being deployed for the security of former King Gyanendra Shah. Accordingly, 25 security personnel have been deployed for the former king and queen, 15 for the former princess, 9 for the former queen, 10 drivers and 40 for the Nagarjuna security base.

According to the criteria set by the new procedure, 16 security personnel will be provided for the former royal family.
